Woo! An official thank you! I'm honoured.

I had fun. Well, except when I was cursing time and space for not bending to my will. I'm glad I could do something for Team Venture. You guys put on a good run tonight!

Thank you! and so do you!

I admit it was slightly sporky to be curled on the couch next to you typing away at one of Albus' letters, given who you played (and most excellently too) in the Phoenix Flap. :P

Um, define 'sporky'? Is that good or bad?

By the way, I think we swapped laptop power supplies; the one I had
was from my employer, has a blue foil asset tag on it, and they'd like
it back. Perhaps we can exchange them at some point?

ohgod. I sort of forgot about HP fandom after the initial DH enthusiasm but now the love resurfaced with the you-know-which news. So I came back to where I read my first AD/GG fic and found this and ohgodohgodohgod.

These were perfectly characterized and though I'm usually somewhat alien to prose this clever, I was an enormous lover of it in this. Every emotion portrayed in the letters felt so ..fitting, and every shade of this peculiar love comes out magnificently.

Fics like these make me feel inadequate as a writer myself.

Thank you. ♥

a;ljfdlkdsj You have no clue how much I love your right about now. This was...well, awesometastic doesn't even sum it up. And the end--oh, the ending. I wanted to scream and shake Dumbledore and demand that he at least give him the fucking WORDS. And then he was DEAD and I think Gellert probably laughed himself sick. I think I cried.

In short: ILU <3.

Hello,

I'm here via painless_j's recommendation. And all I can say is that this is amazing. I'm not especially fond of letters, but this one's stolen my heart and I don't want it back.

Besides, I was wondering if you possibly... *cough*... would give me permission to translate this into Spanish? I'd love to share this with my friends :D and some of them, sadly, don't understand a word in English :(

If you agreed with it I would start as soon as possible and would let you know, of course, where I published your work with all the necessary credits :).

I hope I'm not being a pain in the neck for you ^^'. Your 'yes' or your 'no' is very important for me :D

My best wishes,
Lore.

Ohmigawd! No, you're not being a pain in the neck, just flattering me enormously. I'd love to give translation permission.

Here's the catch, though - this, er, for all that a lot of people have been reading it, is a completely unedited draft. And editing it - along with adding some new material, as I had to skip some stuff in the '80s in order to be able to finish it within twenty-four hours - is a momentous enough task that I've been, er, putting it off.

Sigh. Lazy writer!

So how about I go finish this thing off as soon as I can, and then you can go do your marvelous thing?

On a practical note, may I have your email address (feel free to screen comment) so that we can communicate more readily? LJ seems to like to eat comment emails sometimes.

Many thanks,
Letterblade

Hi again :).

First of all: YAY! Thank you :D

Then, my e-mail address is: regan.slash[@]gmail.com :).

And finally, I understand (or I think so) what you mean. But are you already editing the letters? Are you editing entry per entry or posting (or will be posting) completely new entries?

I could translate letter per letter... for example, if you told me 'letter one is ready' then I'd translate letter one and wait until you finished the next. However, if you feel more comfortable I can start translating when you tell me that everything is exactly as you want it to be :D

Regards ^^

Dear Arkady!

I want to say that your fic is really great!
Would you mind terribly, if I translate it into Russian language and publish it on Fanrus website (www.fanrus.com)? I will state everywhere that I am just a translator and you are the author of the fic. Also, all the additional information (like your email or website) can be published, if you wish.

Thank you for your wonderful work!

Sorry to be a nag but you never answered my email and it becomes sort of urgent... I'd like to ask your permission to translate "Correspondence" into Russian for the forthcoming "AU vs Canon Games".

Yes, yes, I know, you are not too happy with the fic at the moment and, probably, going to edit it, but I still think it's the most beautiful canon compliant story there is. And it would be a pity to deprive of it the Russian speaking part of the fandom. Besides, it's a pleasure for me (as a translator) to work with your text :) I do promise not to archive it without your permission!

I'm sorry I've been so out of touch--currently homeless (long story), amongst other problems, and do not have much time to deal with fandom stuff.

One concern, one request:

The concern is: I don't know what the ettiquette is with this sort of thing, but I had two other people requested permission for a Russian translation, [info]maria_barring and [info]aldhissla18. (The translation requests have been on hold--I've done a lot of necessary revision, though I still have a few more sections to fill in the next time I get the time and a friend's computer. But I know the contest is coming up soon, and I'll try to either finish the revision or have a copy I can let you have.) I really don't know whether this is going to be a translator turf war or what, but if you want to contact them and check and so forth, there you are.

(Personally--I don't have an issue with there being multiple translations out there, but I know translation can be a lot of work, and I'd hate to have three people spending their time on the same thing due to not knowing other people are doing it.)

The request: could I have a link to the contest?

When would you need an English copy by? If it's a week or so, I could probably get you the final version--I hope to have it done soon, I just need to find the computer time and focus. I admit that I'm not happy with the idea of having the unfinished version out there more than it already is, but I know you have a deadline and I've been nonexistent and such. :/

You have nothing to be sorry about - you are The Author, after all! LOL

I've written both [info]maria_barring and [info]aldhissla18 - no problem there.

The games start 30/03 and my translation is due to 21/04, so if you send the final version in a week, it's fine! As for the link, since the contest hasn't started yet, i could only give you the link to the Astronomy Tower site, if you like, where it will take place eventually: http://hp-fiction.fastbb.ru/. Oh, and my direct email, just in case: alvina3@gmail.com

PS: Oh, and did you by any chance write this one as well?

You don't know me and I'm about nine million years late on this, but: I'm not in this fandom in any more than a 'liked the books' kind of way and have never read a Harry Potter slash fic in its entirety in my life, but I stumbled across the version of this fic you have on your website through a Journalfen link and was captivated from the start. You're probably sick of hearing it but this is a brilliant, stunning piece of writing - and the end was utterly heartbreaking, even though I already knew exactly what was coming. Thank you for sharing it.

Wow. Normally a fic that was posted so long ago would be nothing but something I read, appreciate and don't comment on, since I'm late on the bandwagon.

But I recently found this and read it and I have to say it was too amazing and perfect. The ending had me in tears, just so poignant and sad. This this proof, irrefutable proof, that there exists such a thing as amazing fanfiction (much to the disbelief of my friends). Thank you for writing this. I don't think I've ever read another fic that hit me so hard.

Sorry to disturb you with a comment on something nearing two years old, but I had to express how hard this hit me.
